Standard Life Organization supports staff by paying their children’s school bills.
The economic hardship in Nigeria which is a product of the unfolding inflation has rendered many households handicapped in meeting their basic needs for survival. While Standard Life Organization has being involved in providing palliatives to clients and staff over time, the organization had taken a step further since January 2023 to cushion the effect of school fees on the income of its staff by adopting a child per staff.
As it stands, the organization pays all educational bills from tuition, uniforms, books, transportation, school bags to school sandals for any staff child adopted under the educational support scheme. Every staff has an equal opportunity, irrespective of the rank within the organization, to submit the names of his or child or ward for sponsorship. From inception, the school fees of hundreds of staff children in primary and secondary schools have been paid. Very recently, 62 children were paid for in this ongoing first term of the 2023/2024 academic session.
The educational support scheme only targets children in nursery, primary and secondary schools, and runs for a maximum period of 12 years or to Senior Secondary School 3, whichever comes first.
The organization which recently launched its education loan products that is aimed at reducing the number of ‘out-of-school’ children in Nigeria, sees its educational support scheme for staff children as ‘charity beginning from home.
